Quicktime Streaming and text link
I don't want to embed a QT movie in a page, I just want the movie to open up in quicktime player. I want to use a text link, but don't know what source code I need to use for it. Can anyone help?

also, is it rtsp://streaming.yourdomain.com:7071/streaming.yourdomain.com/yourmoviename.mov

thanks

also, on my mac, the files work fine and stream, but on my pc, when I click on the link 'rtsp' changes to 'res' and the file therefore cannot be found. Has anyone seen this before?

thanks

I don't think there's any way to use "rstp:" protocol links as normal hyperlinks, rather than embedded in HTML; if you just simply link to them, no browser that I know of recognizes the protocol.

Quicktime Streaming and text link
Hi Dan, thanks. I actually ended up using poster movies...all works well. I have to be honest...setting up streaming on Dreamhost is a snap. I just love it...I am moving more clients over here. They rock.

As an FYI, on creating text links, you can use a QuickTime Media Link. I was told that there appears to be some buggy things when authoring on the PC side, but if you are using a Mac to author, it should work. I didn't even try it, as I found the poster movies easy to create, and looks much better than the text link and Image I was going to use.

Here's more info for anyone who is on a mac, and chooses to attempt the text link route:
