Help setting up Bugzilla and CPAN please!
Hello,
Having real trouble setting up Bugzilla and CPAN. Have followed articles on wiki at http://wiki.dreamhost.com/CPAN and http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Bugzilla as far as I possibly can but am stuck on trying to run CPAN. Seems that permissions is the problem. Has anyone successfully installed Bugzilla and how!?
Thanks

I would contact support and see if there is another way around it. You may have to compile them locally and reference them in some way locally...Otherwise, CPAN will install the modules globally.

Good Luck!

Hey khatfield,
Thanks for the response. I actually contacted support prior to posted here (their suggestion). Unfortunately I don't really have any experience using shell access, let alone perl so doing what you describe is beyond me.
Thanks anyway

I'm having the same problem. DH Support said to make sure I was using my home directory, which I'm pretty sure I am... still couldn't install Email::Send using cpan.

I had the same problem to install Email::Send when I wanted to run Bugzilla on my account.

I fixed it and here are some of my tips:
* run bash, not any other shell
* follow instructions on http://wiki.dreamhost.com/CPAN
** don't forget to add the suggested lines into your '~/.bash_profile'
** don't forget to CHANGE THE WORDS 'username' to your account name
** test command 'echo $PERL5LIB', it should return the correct path
* I had to edit also ~/.cpan/CPAN/MyConfig.pm and replace all '$ENV{HOME}' with the correct path

My Bugzilla is up and running, so I hope it will help you also.

I gave up and installed Bugzilla 2.22 (http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Bugzilla#Installing_2.22) which had no problems. I never was able to install all the Perl modules. I thought I was following all the directions, but they kept failing. I'm sure 2.22 is good enough for our needs.

Thanks for the reply. Smile

I am also trying to install Bugzilla and have run into the following error. When I enter,

cpan> install Email::Send

I get the following error:

Cannot gzopen $HOME/.cpan/sources/authors/id/R/RJ/RJBS/Email-Send-2.190.tar.gz: No such file or directory

I checked and the file does exist. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Sean

From k2s, in the preceeding message:

Did you do this, and are you sure the path is correct?
