I have seen items to the effect that the experimental forums, polls, etc. are nbot great. I also fear being charged in the future. Are there any 3rd party forums out there that do not require programming skills or knowing a lot about MYSQL PHP
in order to install? Or is the forum offered here by Solid arity ok?

Those first two sentences went right over my head, what's an *experimental* forum, poll, etc?

phpBB is free, you won't be charged for the version you're running in the future, and it's easy to install without knowing the real working of PHP and SQL. You will have to know how to set up a DB on dreamhost and tell the installer the details so it can connect, that's about it.

I think the OP is talking about Solid Components.

Has DH made any decisions about the future of Solid Components as a goodie?

THanks

Oops

I meant that Dream host is offering a service which MAY not be free in the future. Polls, forums...etc. I thought there might be something better.

When you say we need to know how to install a DB, I assume we can just get that info and tell it to a program (installer?) and not have to enter anything? If so, I will check out somehwere in the help files where the iunfo is to tell the program that installs it.

thanks again

I think I read somewhere in the book, How to be a Geek, that it means original poster, referring to the thread-starter. :-D
