Just on a very curious note: what package do you have, and did you use any discount codes?

I am on the L1 Crazy Domain Insane plan, and yes I used a promo code when signing up.

I am on the dev plan, and used an 80% off offer for the first year. I asked their support if that played into the problems I was having. They responded that it did not. Based on my interactions with them, I believe that is true. I think their problems are bigger (i.e. many servers incredibly overloaded) than just trying to place people according to how much they pay.

Posted this and got directed here. I suppose its a similar poblem.
I've been with DH for almost a year now, and never had anything but good things and recommendations of their service. Any support issues I've had we responded quickly enough and in a polite manner. But recently I am having issues with my site that in my opinion is unacceptable.

This is the 3rd day in a row my site has gone down for more than 15 minutes. Not just slow, completly unreachable. Yesterday it took over 53 minutes to get the issue resolved. The day before it was over 20 minutes.

Here's where we're at today.
16 mins 33 secs ago: Outage verified: We are actively looking into resolving it.
22 mins 42 secs ago: Outage first reported.

Now, I can overlook some downtime, even an extended downtime occasionally (I mean I'm not expecting to get something I'm not paying for. This is extreme budget hosting) But 3 days in a row during the middle of the day?!? Am I out of line for being frustrated by this?

You are not at all out of line. I am equally frustrated. I've been a customer for 5 years, my SQL driven site was offline for more than 12 hours yesterday with absolutely no response to multiple requests for help. My site finally came back a few minutes ago. Judging from the error messages flooding my inbox, my site visitors are as frustrated as I am.

I don't expect the moon, but I'd like some reasonable way of contacting support. Sitting back as a long-term customer and watching dreamhost push $7.77 hosting plans along with blog posts about exponential growth when I can't even get a response to a site outage problem, and watching these forums flood with complaints of slow speed (which I can only assume is due to overloaded servers) has resulted in my complete loss of confidence in dreamhost.

Pity they've taken their eye off the ball. Growth for the sake of growth is not a business plan - especially if you're losing those customers out the back door as fast as you're bringing them in the front.

And I was afraid it was just me.

I think this ship has lost its rudder. When I submitted a ticket notifying them of the anemic download speeds (30-50KB/sec), the response was, "nothing's out of the ordinary, the server CPU load status looks fine."

Not only are they losing customers fast, but the stream of new customers will dwindle as the bad reputation gets out. It's like trying to ascend too fast with an airplane: you just end up stalling it. Judging from what has happened in the past two days I'd say my decision to pull out was correct.

Same here. 2 weeks ago I was getting normal download speeds.

Yesterday and today, 50KB/sec, tops.

This sucks.
