KnowledgeTree Install Trouble - Likely SQL Problem
Hi,

I'm trying to install the Jam Warehouse KnowledgeTree (http://www.ktdms.com/) open source document management system on my shared hosting account. I installed the application OK, but I'm having trouble configuring the application. I am following the installation instructions available at: http://www.ktdms.com/support/207InstallationInfo/. I am able to get all the way up to the step "Create the database perfor" but I am unable to run the user.sql script. I get the following error message:

mysql> GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE ON * to dmsfoo@dms.foofactory.com IDENTIFIED BY "djw9281js';
ERROR 1044 (42000): Access denied for user 'dmsfoo'@'205.196.208.0/255.255.240.0' to database 'dmsfoo'

Is this something to do with the fact that I don't have the correct database rights as a shared hosting customer or something else?

I edited the user.sql file to reflect my personal settings (instead of dms@localhost for example I used dmsfoo@dms.foofactory.com). A copy of that file can be viewed here: http://www.foofactory.com/user.sql

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me with this.

Jay

Just wondering:

Did you create a database with the dreamhost panel with the appropriate username/password and host?

Have you tried running the script via the phpmyadmin web panel that you get when you setup mysql via the web panel?

Thank's for your reply to my message! I had set up the database through the control panel, but I hadn't tried to load the SQL through phpmyadmin web panel. Just now however, I tried loading the script through phpmyadmin and the result was the same. For your reference, here is the SQL that I am trying to run:

SQL 1:
-- default dms user
GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE ON * TO dmsfooroot@nexus.dreamhost.com IDENTIFIED BY 'djw9281js';

SQL 2:
-- admin dms user
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON * TO dmsfooadmin@nexus.dreamhost.com IDENTIFIED BY 'js9281djw';

I have tried using @nexus.dreamhost.com and @dmsfoo.foofactory.com

I have already setup the two users, dmsfooroot and dmsfooadmin in the dmsfoo@dmsfoo.foofactory.com database using the web control panel for MySQL.

Here is the error message I get when I run the SQL through phpmyadmin:

ERROR 1:
SQL query: Documentation

-- default dms user
GRANT SELECT ,
INSERT ,

UPDATE ,
DELETE ON * TO dmsfooroot@nexus.dreamhost.com IDENTIFIED BY 'djw9281js'

MySQL said: Documentation
#1045 - Access denied for user 'dmsfooroot'@'205.196.208.0/255.255.240.0' (using password: YES)

ERROR 2:
SQL query:

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON * TO dmsfooadmin@nexus.dreamhost.comIDENTIFIED BY 'js9281djw'

MySQL said: Documentation
#1044 - Access denied for user 'dmsfooadmin'@'205.196.208.0/255.255.240.0' to database 'dmsfoo'

Hopefully this sheds some more light on your reply.

According to the mysql wiki page http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/MySQ...ed_hosting you can't use the GRANT command here to create users. I haven't set up a MySQL database yet, so I don't know if you can create users with specific permissions using the control panel, but if not, you may just have to configure KnowledgeTree to use the username/password you setup when you created the database in the first place.

Good call on that! I added the users using the control panel and gave them the rights that they needed as defined in the users.sql script. The app works great - just what I wanted. Thanks again to everyone who helped me with this!

I want to thank you both kungfoo & derfk I did get it to work.
As you know we have limited rights, the author did not take this into account.
I started working on this on Wednesday.

Ok here are the steps:

1. Select the domain or sub-domain that you would like to have the KnowledgeTree 3.0RC1 to installed.http://www.ktdms.com/
(example domain.com or sub.domain.com)

2. Create a user that will be used as the owner and the one that run the process on the Dreamhost server, example dms2006.
Changing the owner under the DH panel-> Domains -> Manage Domains -> edit the domain and change to the user you made before.

3. Setup the MySQL server using the Dreamhost control panel (I did try using the command line and it failed.)
- example dbname.domain.com
- Added the files structure.sql and data from the sql\mysql\install directory.
- Next added the users manually from the dreamhost MNySQL panel. Also modify the rights for the accounts to what is need in the users.sql file.
(example dms1 and dmsadmin1) using a different password then what in the instructions.

4. Upload all the files to the server into the directory that you would like to have KnowledgeTree installed.

5. Edit the config/config.ini

; Database login details
dbHost = dbname.domain.com
dbName = yourdbname
dbUser = dms1
dbPass = zxc878gsdf7 (make up your own password)

dbAdminUser = dmsadmin1
dbAdminPass = zxc878gsdf7 (make up your own password)

6. Start you site setup http://localhost/setup/ it start the post-installation checklist.

7. The install instructions that from the authors website http://www.ktdms.com/products/knowledget...C1Install/

8. Next you should have a login and its admin admin
