Statistics Expectations
What are realistic expectations of statistics?

I read the article http://www.analog.cx/.

According to this article, you can only tell page requests and not the number of people that visit.
It seems that these are the most useful for me:

*The Host Report lists all computers which downloaded files from you.

*The Referrer Report lists which pages linked to your files (and also pages which included your images). I find this the most useful.

*The Referring Site Report lists the servers those referrers were on.

The listing query words which, you would think, help in modifying the text isn't that helpful when it lists, at, for, the, up, etc.
What else should I be looking for? Of course, the goal is to get people to visit.

Is that right? I thought that the number of "Distinct hosts served" indicated the approximate number of unique visitors. See e.g.,

https://panel.dreamhost.com/kbase/index....statistics

This suggests that due to use of proxy servers, the number may underestimate the true number of visitors.
