The transaction completed, but we were unable to renew due to recieved a
notice this domain is pending transfer away from us. The transaction has been
reversed and your credit card has not been charged.

Regards,
Tera-Byte.com

Does that sound like I am able to renew?

Potential customers are reading this forum, perhaps, wondering how any company might be so argumentative with a new customer.

I do hope that this confusion offers insight into the DreamHost experience.

Father Luke's reply:

The email addy is correct.
Please explain what you mean, if I may ask that?

DreamHost needs to release my domain name.

Tera-Byte.com
You are transfering your domain awaaaaaaay from tera-byte.com. Soooooooo... you're obliged to sit tight for sixty days with your new registrar. No way around it. On the bright side, your domain should have been renewed for one year automatically when you switched registrars.

Quote:Does that sound like I am able to renew?
Yep. The gaining registrar renews you for one year automagic. After 60 days you can move your registration to another registrar. After you've moved to a new registrar from Dreamhost, the NEW registrar can't move you for sixty days, either, and you wouldn't be able to renew with Dreamhost.

What's so hard about these concepts?

The brighter potential customers notice that there's been only one reply from the company. The rest have been other customers trying to hammer some sense into you...

" this domain is pending transfer "

DreamHost will not register it.

The domain name is unavailable for renewal.
DreamHost is holds the key.
The Domain has been hijacked.

What is so hard to grasp about that?

New customers will read on this forum about the troubles with DreamHost. Mine is not a solitary, and isolated example. My experience is, however, additional troubles at the helm of the good ship DreamHost.

I, more than anyone else here, just wish that I could renew my domain and dissolve back between the cracks from where I came.

That ball is in DreamHost's hands.

DreamHost refuses to acknowledge my emails.
They refuse to contact me in any way.

My experience with DreamHost is reflected here for potential customers to witness and behold, pard'ner.

Just so you know, domain transfers aren't instantaneous. Wait 'till your domain has been properly transfered to the gaining registrar, and then see where your domain stands.

I think you're getting worked up because you do not fully understand the process you've initiated. Just be patient; it'll work out in a couple of days.

Here's something to think about: if Dreamhost will not register your domain, they can't be the gaining registrar and neither can they hijack your domain. If your domain is pending transfer, either Dreamhost is registering your domain (and renewing it), or someone else is grabbing your domain and Dreamhost doesn't have anything to do with it.

Of course if your domain has been the willing source of spam, then all bets are off and you're out a domain like you should be. You've not been into spamming, have you?

Your experience stands out from the rest as being diametrically opposite from almost all other experiences...

Tell you what. Why don't you register at webhostingtalk.com and rant there a bit. See what kind of a response you get. Be sure to link the thread here.

I post here because I have inherited these problems from DreamHost, and I will not go until this matter is settled.

You can post here:

"Take your meds"

but this level of discussion is tantamount to the level of help customers receive when contacting DreamHost for customer service.

Potential Customers take note:
The Good Ship DreamHost takes no prisoners...

Avast! There be Pirates on board the good ship DreamHost.

Aye.

In other words, you're here just to stir trouble for no particular reason and you're not going to put your neck on the line by posting on a more public board frequented by hosting industry heavy-hitters because they'd tear your vitriolic rants apart in an instant.

*sigh* I hate trolls. Especially flaming trolls.

I thought they'd make good pets, but trolls really can't help their nature. I've learned my lesson; I won't feed the troll anymore.
