Question before signing up
Hi. I am new to DreamHost and, after reading around, have decided that I like what I'm seeing. I plan on adding real web hosting. However, I have read that, if hosting with DreamHost Apps, I am unable to change Templates and install my own plugins. Is this true?

Also, I don't quite understand the pricing here: Just $4.98 per month, paid annually as $69.40! Can someone please explain that to me?

Thank you.

RE: Question before signing up
The files for DH apps are stored in a central location that is inaccessible to your user. You will only be able to use the themes that the install has available and the modules. It is true that you would not be able to add your own unless you had paid hosting and installed the apps yourself (either via advanced one-click if available or you doing it manually).

If they are having a special for 4.98/mo I would snap it up. The regular prices are higher. You would pay the 69.40 up front for the year.

I do plan to pay for hosting. Will I be given full access of WordPress (themes, plugins, etc.)?

So about the prices, I will be paying the monthly fee of $4.98 plus an additional annual fee of $69.40? I'm still a bit stuck here.

Thanks for the reply though! Much appreciated!

RE: Question before signing up
Full hosting gets you a WordPress directory you can access, which means you can add your own plugins and themes.

I'm not sure what makes up the $69.40, but discount plans are paid on a yearly basis, so that $69.40 would give you full hosting for a year with no additional cost, except for additional domains you'd like to register for $9.95 each per year.

Thanks for answering my question!

Is it advised to purchase the annual plan of $69.49? The monthly plan, when added up, will only run me for about $60, which is still cheaper. But, of course, I will still need to buy a domain on top of those.

RE: Question before signing up
I have no idea where you see a plan listed for 4.98 per month unless its someone listing their promo code to get you that price. That is not the regular price listed for hosting. When I saw
Just $4.98 per month, paid annually as $69.40! that said to me that you will need to make the full payment of 69.40 for one years worth of hosting. That doesn't break down to 4.98 monthly so whoever wrote that got their math wrong. Also the promo codes is good for the first year so after that you would be back to the normal price.

Never mind whatever promo code they gave you though bro because DH is running a promotion itself to give you one full year of hosting for 9.24 and were I you I would sign up for it IMMEDIATELY. You even get the one free domain name for as long as you keep your hosting account. You will need to use the promo code 777tax11 but don't take my word for it http://www.dreamhost.com/limited-time-sa...n-now.html go go go while the getting is good my friend. That promotion is a steal.
