Mounting the ceph filesystem ?
Howdy:
would there be a way to mount the ceph file system from the playground on a VPS?

RE: Mounting the ceph filesystem ?
No, there is not. The Ceph FS is not accessible from machines that aren't specifically part of the Ceph cluster.

RE: Mounting the ceph filesystem ?
andrewf: fair enough. Though there is not fuse available either to mount through sshfs, so I will have a to rely on lower level stuffs that can provide vfs-like application level support for ssh, such as http://code.google.com/p/pyfilesystem/

Yeah, given the way Linux-VServer works there's currently no way that we can allow VPSes to mount filesystems, even using FUSE.

If you just need remote file storage, the Ceph S3 gateway might be a more appropriate way to go.

Thanks, but no thanks. I dislike the S3 interface. And for now anyway files stored in Ceph through the S3 gateway are not accessible by ssh/rsync and reciprocally... My tests have been done on the rsync/ssh side.
So the files would not be visible in on the S3 side anyway.

For now in any case, the ceph playground is down, so this is way and see.
