Ceph Access Questions
I created a user: vitalcephtest, then rsynced some data over to the playground into a directory called: books/.

I logged in via SFTP and I see the books/ directory and all the content inside.

Then I went over to Cyberduck and used the S3 interface to connect to cephbeta.dreamhost.com using the credentials on the account. But there was no books/ directory.

I created a directory with content using the S3 interface called futurama/. This directory is not visible from SFTP.

So:

1. Should I see the content uploaded from rsync and SFTP together in one place in a list of buckets or directories depending on the access interface? Or are these completely separate systems at this point?

2. Is there a public HTTP url form for content uploaded via the playground like there is for content uploaded via the S3 interface?

RE: Ceph Access Questions
The Ceph S3-compatible storage and rsync/SFTP storage are completely separate. There's no linkage between them.

(Technical details: Objects uploaded via the S3 interface are stored directly on the osd using RADOS; rsync and SFTP go through a machine that has a Ceph filesystem mounted.)

RE: Ceph Access Questions
Thanks for the clarification. That helps. Do you have any details on my second question about HTTP access to playground content? What the URL should be (I have been able to access the S3 interface content just fine over HTTP)?

RE: Ceph Access Questions
We don't currently have an HTTP interface to the storage on playground. Sounds like a good idea, though — I'll send that to the Ceph development team.
