flv fast forward or jump to middle
I have tried different ways of displaying FLV/Flash video, primarily using Joomla and hwdvideoshare, but also with standalone players and calling the dreamhost player. They all work fine other than one thing--videos can't be fast forwarded, jumped to the middle, and so on other than the portion that's already downloaded.

Is this something I'm doing wrong or do I need a host that supports this and/or to add something to my account here?

You need to use streaming software if you want true random access video streaming. You can use DH's QuickTime streaming software, but you have to hint your files which is difficult to do if you don't have commercial software such as QuickTime Pro. Another option which works with both FLV and, I belive, MP4, is an opensource pseudo-streaming program such as xmoovstream: http://stream.xmoov.com/

I've used it on DH without problems.
