ffmpeg2theora with /dh/bin/ffmpeg
hello,

Does somebody know how to install ffmpeg2theora (http://v2v.cc/~j/ffmpeg2theora/) on a dreamhost server. i am currently using the dreamhost /dh/bin/ffmpeg (which is great), however i think that having ffmpeg2theora installed and using /dh/bin/ffmpeg would be of a great deal. i just don't know how to install ffmpeg2theora, and make it use /dh/bin/ffmpeg. and the other thing is that i don't if installing a such software in my home folder is really clean.

actually clips compressed with ffmpeg2theora are lighter and of a better quality.

best regards,
Lawrence

From a quick look over the ffmpeg2theora source code, I don't believe there's any way to get it to use our copy of ffmpeg. Sorry.

Came here today to ask about ffmpeg2theora and saw this post.

Any chance of Dreamhost making this utility available to its users?

Unlikely. Theora appears to be a dead end anyway at this point, as all browsers which support it (Firefox and Chrome) now support the considerably better WebM format as well.

Thank you for the timely response.

Can we get WebM support for ffmpeg then?

Yeah, I'll be including WebM support next time I update ffmpeg.
