my findings on the usage required on a DH PS is 1/3 of what it takes on my actual box running redhat.

Linux VServer (which we use) has some really interesting properties with regard to memory usage. In most cases, each Dreamhost PS will be running similar software, so there's a lot of memory savings that can take place behind the scenes.

RE: Running SRCDS on DreamHost PS
Just an update.

Finishing up a php Game Panel to work on DreamHost without eating up resources, thus no crazy mod installs needed, just a small database and say 10megs of b/w month probably.

So far its working, RCONphp for console commands, and some very "precise" call scripts to start/stop/restart the game server, VERY basic, but better than the crude way I explained in the tutorial, email me(in profile), or PM me for more info.

Again, I feel like i'm invading territory by doing this, so any feedback from DH is more than welcome.

Nice work.

And yeah, I always feel bad about pushing the limits of my account.

EDIT: Also, re-reading the OP, take a look at
http://phploadavg.sourceforge.net/
For viewing the server load averages.

Cameron!

Was looking for something like this, couldn't find anything though.

Thanks!

EDIT:

Just a quick throw in
http://panel.anarchy-99.net/test/

headin out for the day, when I get back i'll fix the problems with the call's taking the entire page, but thats the basics.

NOTE:
This is run off shared, when I actually finish it and make it look... not like crap, it will be passworded and on each of the PS's.

RE: Running SRCDS on DreamHost PS
Awesome. Now I really want a PS. Tie to start saving. There are so many mods that don't have any servers running, and a speedy server in the US is better than none at all. (Australia FTL - Hosting costs sooo much!)

RE: Running SRCDS on DreamHost PS
Hey, can you post your server.cfg? I tried your setup, and am peaking out at just under 1100mbs at full load.

I don't run one atm but I used some server.cfg generator, nothing really special, some mods will rocket the usage but general sourcemod plugins (like no respawn) do nothing, HLStatsX etc causes double resource use most times, though.

Use this generator

Also sorry for the late response, I usually get emailed questions via Akensai.com, so I rarely check here. If you need more info feel free to email me support@akensai.com, AIM: Akensai, Steam: wowakumo.
