Zips

#1

Hello all,

I know how to un-tar a tar file after I’ve uploaded it to the server (via ssh) but I don’t know how to unzip a zip file via ssh after uploading. Can anyone help? I’d rather not unzip on my hard disk if I don’t have to. With tar files, once they are opened on the server, they retain their permissions, etc. I’d rather do it that way if zips are the same. Hopefully, someone here with zip file experience can help?

TIA,

Hope

All you need to do is type

unzip filename.zip
I’ve done this several times, I don’t believe I ran into any issues with permissions.

Edited because I didn’t know the correct bbcode.

Hi absolut,
So what you are saying is - after uploading the zip file, I access through ssh, type that in on the command line and that’s all there is to it? It will upzip with proper directories etc…?
Thanks,
Hope

EDITED to say - Yes! That seemed to work just fine. Thanks again!
