You are using a non-DreamHost name server

#1

Hello All,

I recently just set up my account, and have my domain names registered with namecheap.com. I set the name servers at namecheap to:

ns1.dreamhost.com
ns2.dreamhost.com
ns3.dreamhost.com

but all i get is a “server not found” when i enter the web address.

additionally, i ran a status test on my account, and all of my domains came back as, “You are using a non-DreamHost name server.”

Anyone know what I am missing here? All help is greatly appreciated.

Without knowing the URL to your domain, it’s difficult to troubleshoot. Does namecheap have a spot to enter the IP addresses for these name servers?

You might have to give it time for DNS resolution to propagate.
Whois Server Version 2.0

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

Domain Name: LESSONPLANSOUP.COM
Registrar: ENOM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.enom.com
Referral URL: http://www.enom.com
Name Server: DNS1.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Name Server: DNS2.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Name Server: DNS3.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Status: ok
Updated Date: 29-mar-2010
Creation Date: 28-mar-2010
Expiration Date: 28-mar-2011
Looks like the name servers still haven’t changed. Give it a day or two more, then contact Namecheap if it still isn’t working.
Domain: lessonplansoup.com

Status: Active

Name Servers:
dns1.registrar-servers.com
dns2.registrar-servers.com
dns3.registrar-servers.com

Creation date: 29 Mar 2010 00:54:00
Expiration date: 28 Mar 2011 19:54:00
As it’s a new domain you can’t just transfer it over here and fix it in minutes, unfortunately.

First step is to check your admin panel over at NameCheap (I bet you’ve done that 1000 times already). Next step would be to get in touch with the techs at NameCheap and point out that you’ve changed nameservers from your panel but their system obviously isn’t working.

Ok, as it turns out… i had a typo. stupid mistake. well, lets hope it was typo, and things work after they propogate.

i had written ns3.dreamShost.com as one of the servers. whoops.
