Howdy!

I am installing WordPress for a client who’s domain is on Dreamhost. I am used to another hosting setup (using public_html) but want to keep the client here. (They’re your client also)

I configured the database and uploaded all the WP files and folders straight up to the domain but I am getting a URL not found message for www(.)domain.com /wp-login.php

What am I missing?

Thank you!

/home/USER/example.com/index.php

Maps to

Does that help?

Unfortunately no, the entire WordPress platform (php) isn’t being recognized as having been uploaded, I can’t get to the login screen at all.

Which folder did you upload WordPress to?

#5

Using ftp just straight to the main domain (no sub folder) (i’m used to public_html/) - which sub folder should it be in?

where "user" is your dreamhost user found under https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=users.users&

where “user” is your dreamhost user found under https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=users.users&

Actually it would be better to go to “Manage Domains” and look at the “Web Hosting” column. For your domain the web hosting column should say “Fully Hosted” followed by the php version and just below on the next line a user name. That is the user name that must be used for this domain.

When you log into that users ftp you should find a directory that was created by the panel robot named the same as your domain… switch into that directory and you will be uploading at the root of the domain.

It should be pretty easy to find under ftp, no?
