Love WordPress. Have had it up and running for a while now.
Anyway, today I had a wild moment and started the upgrade process. First I READ THE DIRECTIONS. I know, what a concept, eh?
Then, I changed the name of the directory the original blog was in. /blog/ became /blog_old/. Then I did the one click install thingy whatsit, putting the upgrade in the /blog/ directory. I did this with the assumption that changing the original to a different then doing the upgrade in the now empty original URL would suffice.
Got the email with a link within a minute. (go DH!) Clicked on the ‘if you are upgrading…’ link. Now I get this:
Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the paulao database.
- Are you sure it exists?
- On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
Yes, it exists. No, DH doesn’t require the prefix. So like, dudes, whats up?
I’ve looked around here and on the WordPress support forum but none of the answers quite fit this. All the smart people at the WordPress support are either DH members or WP developers. So I came here.
The ‘old’ one is accessible under the new name URL:
Anyone with answers?
