WordPress 2.0 and one-click install

#1

I’m really new. I installed WordPress through the one-click install, so there’s nothing on my computer. How do I upgrade? Do I one-click install again?

I checked the WordPress site and it refers back to providers who supply one-click install services.

Go to the wordpress website and download the latest build. Follow the upgrade instructions. I’m assuming this would be much easier than you waiting on DH to offer the latest build of it. You will need your mysql db name, username, and password that was created. Upgrading that type of stuff usually only involves replacing a few files…slight editing of them to have your correct paths etc…

I don’t wish to ask a stupid question, but by ‘nothing on my computer’ did you mean nothing on your PC or nothing on your dreamhost account?

If you use the one-click install you wouldn’t have anything (as in the WP files) on your computer now would you

See how new I am? Yes, I wanted to clarify that I used only one-click install and didn’t download and install the initial files on my machine.

Nope, its a totally server side thing.

You can get programs you put on your pc that allow you to post to your blog, but they are an entirely seperate thing to wordpress (although, they can be wordpress compatible)

Best of luck, if you need any more help, drop me a line
