Why is 1-Click installs never 1 Click? Wordpress Install not working

#1

I am not really new to all this but I have never successfully installed a 1-click app.

Basically I have a domain ‘emptybattery.com

and started hosting with dreamhost.

I went to One-Click Installs.

-> Wordpress

-> Custom Installation

-> Selected domain 'http://www.emptybattery.com

and clicked “INSTALL IT FOR ME NOW”

Then is installs and shortly after I receive an email with following steps…

Now…

  1. Please create an admin user at:

http://www.emptybattery.com/wp-admin/install.php

  1. Afterwards, if you’re switching from a different blog system,
    go to the import area of WordPress admin:

http://www.emptybattery.com/wp-admin/import.php

  1. We recommend you read the readme file too, but don’t worry about
    the section for installation – you’ve already done that:

http://www.emptybattery.com/readme.html

etc. etc.

But none of the links work.

When I go to www.emptybattery.com it says…

Safari can’t find the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.emptybattery.com/” because Safari can’t find the server “www.emptybattery.com”.

So I check DNS is pointed to the right host.

NS ns1.dreamhost.com.
NS ns2.dreamhost.com.
NS ns3.dreamhost.com.

But still no results.

I know this is an easy fix and am asking here for professional advice, instead of spending hours and hours trying to work it out…

Thanks

Are you able to ftp into your domain or use the webftp thing? When you go to manage domains is emptybattery.com showing up as a fully hosted domain?

#3

Yes it is showing as a fully hosted domain.

When I try to FTP in it says…

CONNECTION FAILED

An error has occured
Unable to connect to FTP server emptybattery.com on port 21.

Are you sure this is the address of the FTP server? This is often different from that of the HTTP (web) server. Please contact your ISP helpdesk or system administrator for help.

yes, godaddy is a lot easier to set up everything, i’m pretty sure a bunch of people have the same problem.

I have a similar problem i already install wordpress and i have access via ftp and i see all wordpress folders and files but when i go to my site it said.

The DreamHost customer who owns www.blablalbla.com has not yet uploaded their website or has chosen to leave this holding page active.
If you are the owner of this domain, you’ll find your login information contained within the emails sent to you when your account was activated. Once logged in, you’ll be able to delete this page (quickstart.html) and begin uploading your new site.
Also, here are some helpful links for getting started!

by the way dreamhost very poor support i used the chat support explaining my problem and he or she did the job for me without telling me the steps or any explication so i uninstall wordpress and tried to install it again but i have the same problem again because that person as soon as he or she fixed the problem he left the chat.

i know here is cheaper than godaddy but i prefer pay a little more and have a better host and domain site “designing speaking”, less confuse and a great support.

sorry for express this here but its the true. bye dreamhost

I have now managed to log into my FTP through net2ftp

Now what should I do as far as trouble shooting goes?

I tried to open http://www.emptybattery.com/wp-admin/install.php via dreamweaver and dreamweaver says…

Error: PHP is not running

WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

So I checked that on the Host and it say…

Web Options
PHP mode: PHP 5.2 Fast CGI (Default)
