What's Allowed?

#1

Hello All,

I just wanted to ask what content was allowed to be put on the website that dreamhost hosts?

#2

or actually better to say…whats NOT allowed

sry for double post

Basically, if it is legal in the United States, and in California, content is allowed. As for what types of scripts/programs are allowed, you are limited by the Terms of Service when it comes to using certain types of software on a shared server (persistent processes, servers, excessive CPU/RAM usage, etc.)

You should review each of these documents, and then post back if you have a specific question:

Beyond the OPs reading of the ToS and other important documents, I think that through the veil of anonymity, they can offer what they are considering hosting and we might be able to provide advice about it. The regulars here are pretty good in determining what’s in, what’s out, and what’s borderline.

You might also do a search here to get a flavor of the things that people have gotten in trouble for. Please remember to specify a date range longer than the default of “Newer than 1 week” and also maybe use the “And” search option rather than “Entire Phrase”.
