I have a number of MySQL databases for a variety of projects that I’ve got going at any given time. Since I woke up this morning, three of my MySQL databases have been unresponsive to my websites. The websites themselves work fine, but without MySQL access, they’re dead in the water.
When I attempt to access a website that uses them, I receive a message such as this:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Unknown MySQL server host ‘mysql.kortalh.com’
The odd thing is that I can access the databases from the Dreamhost Control Panel, and other websites using seperate databases on the same hostname still work perfectly.
I haven’t made any changes to my settings for quite some time, and I’ve double-checked to make sure that none of the sites have been hacked. I’m completely dumbfounded as to why these three databases are nonfuctional.
I’ve tried contacting support, but it’s been almost four hours without response. I run a moderate sized community site and many of the members are getting frustrated at being unable to use it all day.
Does anyone else have a similar problem? Or perhaps know a solution?
