Website Statistics

This may be a really stupid question, but I’m having a hard time understanding website statistics. The following is the summary section of one of my newer sites:

Successful requests: 4,366 (1,723)
Average successful requests per day: 229 (246)
Successful requests for pages: 2,033 (802)
Average successful requests for pages per day: 106 (114)
Failed requests: 15 (0)
Redirected requests: 69 (1)
Distinct files requested: 367 (123)
Distinct hosts served: 156 (26)
Data transferred: 450.79 megabytes (76.91 megabytes)
Average data transferred per day: 23.69 megabytes (10.99 megabytes)

So, can I say that I have had 1723 visitors in the reporting period? Or is does that number mean something else.

It does not mean 1723 visitors because it includes search engine crawlers.

I believe you got this via DH’s default site statistics page.

I’ll suggest you to install AWStats. It is much better than the default Analog (I mean it is more beautiful).

Thanks, that works much better. Got it installed on two of my sites already.
