Does anyone know if there is a Perl program that is installable onto DreamHost so that we can access a WebDAV folder via the WWW? Thanks!

Ever try CPAN?

http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/module/HTTP::DAV

and its home page is http://www.webdav.org/perldav/

Though it has as a preqrequisite XML:DOM and I’m not sure if that is already installed.

I have download and am trying to install the program in TELNET, but I keep getting the following error message in the install part:

mkdir /usr/local/lib/perl: Permission denied at /usr/share/perl/5.6.1/ExtUtils/I
nstall.pm line 81
make: *** [pure_site_install] Error 255
/usr/bin/make install – NOT OK

I am assuming this has something to do with my access rights to the server. Is there any way around this? Thanks!

I haven’t tried using a WebDAV client myself or installing Perl modules that require make, but from what I have read you need to tell it to install the module in your user direcotry, ie make a directory called:
/home/username/lib

and then in your perl code you would use:

use lib ‘/home/username/lib’; # tell it where to find your private perl modules
use SomeModule; # will be loading from /home/username/lib if not found elsewhere in @INC
