I am interested in finding out how many visitors my website recieves / hits etc.
I looked in the section “site statistcs” but can’t seem to find any information - it only tells me the bandwidth usuage??

anyone any ideas how to do this??

You need to use some other tracking software, you can install awstats to give more detailed information or an easier way would be to install google analytics

When you say you looked in the site statistics section, I assume you mean Status -> Site Statistics in the panel, did you click on the relevant domain in the domain list? This will attempt to log you in to the Analog stats package that is installed by default, which will show you some basic statistics for your domain.

If you can’t get to /stats because you’re using something like Wordpress, you’ll just need to add this to your .htaccess file, above the stuff that’s already there for whichever CMS you’re using.

RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(stats|failed_auth\.html)/?(.*)$ [NC] RewriteRule ^.*$ - [L]

DH has a build-in analyzer “analog”. You can follow mark’s suggestion to set it up for your domain.

Some people prefers AWStats. It is much better analog but requries manual installation. If you feel confident, you can try to follow and install it.

@Seiler - I run wordpress on my website but I get data from /stats all the time. I also have “ultimate google analytics” plugin exporting data to google. So it definitely works. - City Streets

I think the problem that seiler is trying to solve is due to using certain permalink settings in WordPress. I think if you leave your WordPress with the default settings, it won’t rewrite the urls in a way that munges up the default stats pages from DreamHost.

Oh… I customized my permalinks in category and titles so that might explain the issue. Sorry. - City Streets
