Using terminal on mac os x

apps

#1

Hi, I am attempting to install phpicalendar. It requires me to use terminal, which I have never used.

Does anyone know of a good tutorial for using terminal? I already have my usertype as shell. I suppose I could just jump right in…but think it might be more prudent to learn a little about shell before jumping right in.

thanks

Well, I dove in head first.

I got to the command

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php

this is from the tutorial in the wiki:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/PHPiCalendar

I am in the icalendar directory

[myservernameremoved]$ AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php
-bash: AddHandler: command not found

Do I need to move back up in the directory?

thanks

EDIT: I am running php 4 and fastcgi, should I disable fastcgi?

The instructions suggest adding that line to a file called .htaccess.

.htaccess files are files Apache (the web server) uses to control access to parts of your site. Use a text editor (e.g. TextEdit or BBEdit or whatever) to create a file called ‘.htaccess’ in the PHPiCalendar directory, and add that text to it.
