URGENT ! mailbox delete or lost,

Hi,

I was following the instructions on : https://panel.dreamhost.com/kbase/index.cgi?area=832
to forward my main email to my office account.

but when I did than the mailbox was for my email or m1723391 just disappeared is there a way to restore it? With all the emails?

Ps I have a call open #958322 is any can help.

Those instructions say:

If that’s all you did, your mailbox should not have been disappeared or affected it in any way. The only accidental way of destroying a mailbox from the panel that I’ve experienced is from using the browser Back button, but Support say this was recently fixed.

Is your mailbox still visible on the Mail > Email Addresses? If not, on Mail > Filters and Spam?

The mailbox is not visible at Mail > Addresses
But is visible at Mail > Filters and Spam

I would like to get all my emails back so how do I go about it?

OK, then your mailbox is still there. You should be able to log in a fetch your mails as normal. What happens when you try e.g. with www.mail2web.com ?

when I go to
http://webmail2.dreamhost.com

Login with the account that is no longer on Mail > Addresses, I get :
ERROR
Unknown user or password incorrect.

Other accounts work with no problem.

I don’t trust it, having found bugs in its login routine.

I suggest you try http://www.mail2web.com/cgi-bin/login.asp?lid=0&il=0 with

Server name or IP address: mail.dreamhost.com
User ID or Login name: “Mailbox” from Mail > Filters and Spam
Password: if in doubt, first reset at Users > Passwords

How odd!

Now I can connect to it via www.mail2web.com
so the mailbox is still there!
but all my new emails are not going there… only getting them at the office (where I redirected the mail to)

Thank you.

Next step is to restore it on Mail > Addresses
and get the forwarding to work and leave me a copy on the server…

Still not fixed I can’t login via webmail2.dreamhost.com
and can’t do admin work on my email via Mail > Addresses.

As I said, that doesn’t wurprise me. DH webmail login is bugged.

The problem is I can’t see my mailbox via Mail > Addresses.
hence I can’t change the SPAM filters, disk usage, archive etc…

Find the email address you want to feed the mailbox.
Click Edit
Check "also deliver to this DreamHost mailbox:"
Set Mailbox Login: to your mailbox
Click “Edit Address” (sic).

I can do all the above except:

I get
Mailbox Login: will be generated upon submission

are you sure I will get all my old emails back this way or am I creating an new mailbox ?

Yes - I suggest you don’t for now!

I think your settings are screwed. Tell Support that Edit Address fails to find a mailbox confirmed to exist by Filters and Spam.

BTW, did you make the change that caused this using browser Back, multiple windows or bookmarks?

It has now been fixed by Support.

I think the cause might have been multiple windows open.
