Upgrade to wordpress 2.3.1

Can someone explain to me how to upgrade to WordPress 2.3.1? I just started this blog; this stuff is all very new to me. I found some discussion on the DreamHost blog archive about upgrading via One-Click but I can’t find any place to link to that–only the install where I get an error message I don’t know how to deal with. I thought I’d try a manual upgrade but after printing 20 pages of instructions from WordPress I’m pretty well intimidated.

I’d appreciate any help.
