I am a little disappointed that the stats do not seem to show unique visits - or perhaps I don’t know where to look. Anyone?
Based on a little research, I found this comparison table:
Analog does not report visits or unique visitors. This is a MAJOR drawback.
AWstats seems to be the superior tool by far and it is free. Now if I can just figure out how to set it up…
Wishing DH would offer AWstats.
Unique visitors are displayed as “Distinct hosts served:”, under the General Summary. For visits, look at “Successful requests for pages:”. It’s not exactly the visits number, but it comes close.
Thanks for the reply
Here’s a fantastic guide to setting up AWstats on DreamHost:
Wow, thanks, that’s was a great help. I was trying to figure out how to get awstats installed on my account, saved me a heck of a lot of time.
Thanks for pointing me to the tutorial. I set up the script and it output some html pages in the right directory. However, they all contain this error:
sh: /home/jeffblog/jeffblogworthy.com/awstats/awstats.pl: /usr/bin/perl: bad interpreter: Permission denied
Anybody know why?
