Unable to browse website hosted with dreamhost

#1

Hello
After I purchased hosting space I realized I am unable to browse website hosted with dreamhost. Got in touch with the support guys. But they were not very helpful. Infact I last heard from them was three days back. I mailed them asking again about the problem. But they dont care abt my problem & the only thing i get from them is silence.
Has anybody faced this problem before??? Can anybody help me solve this issues since the official support team is not helping me.

Thanks.

I can assure you that if there has been no response to your last support request, there is some reason for that other than that they don’t care about your problem. We care about every customer’s problem, though some problems may take longer than others to resolve.

What is the domain you are having trouble browsing to?

It is very difficult to accept no reply for three days (now it is almost four). As a website owner I cannot afford to have no communication from my hosting provider for so many days. If there are some reason keep me in the loop. Make me feel that you r working on the issue. Silence doesn’t help unless you want to avoid someone.
Since you are telling me I will wait for another two days.

As I said in my previous post. I having problem with all website hosted with dreamhost. e.g. rrut.com, anzdesigns.com, shoeguru.ca, dreamhoststatus.com, squarefree.com

www.rrut.com and www. anzdesigns.com work fine for me. Considering that you’re having trouble with dreamhoststatus.com, then the problem is closer to your end.

If you can, try a different DNS server in your Internet settings options:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

These belong to OpenDNS and are open to the public.

I can understand , and appreciate, your frustration, though your last contact with support regarding this was on the 12th - today is the 14th, so it has been less than 48 hours.

I agree you should not have to wait that long for an answer. It may be that your ticket had been assigned to someone who is off for the weekend. The system is supposed to catch that, but it might have somehow missed that the person assigned to the ticket was not available (unexpected time away from work, etc.). I have asked that the ticket be located and moved to the general support queue so that an available support staffer can deal with it, and I have been told that has been done.

All that said, all of those sites that you listed are reachable by me from work, and home (and various proxies I have tried). This fact, and (as Scott pointed out) your inability to reach dreamhoststatus.com, make it pretty clear that this is a connectivity problem you are having, not a problem with your sites’ hosting at DreamHost.

Hopefully, DreamHost technical support staff will contact you soon about this. In the meantime, I suggest you run some traceroutes from your connection to those sites which you cannot reach but we can, so that you can see where the problem lies.

If there are several DreamHost hosted sites, and others, that you cannot reach, this has to be related to your connectivity or DNS service. By the way, Dreamhoststatus.com is not hosted by DreamHost, so your connectivity problem is not related to DreamHost alone.

Can’t get for other domains now as I am at my work place.

If I can reach dreamhost servers after which it times out that means there is some problem on the dreamhost server. On of my friend staying in my building using the same ISP can browse all the above website. I guess it is firewall which is blocking my IP. But the support people says thats not the problem.

rlparker: Thanks for your help & assigning my ticket to someone else. Really appreciate it.
