Transferring FTP user between accounts

I had a domain hosted under a friends account who had setup an ftp user for me. I recently created my own dreamhost account and deleted the ftp user in the previous account think I could use that name in the new account. That doesn’t seem to be the case. Whenever I try to create an ftp user with the old name it says it’s already in use.

Is there anyway to move an ftp user from one account to another?

You’d have to ask Support to help you out. Most likely, you’d end up on a different server. Also, if you created your hosting account with a discount code, they won’t let you move the domain over to you until you finish the discount period (one year) and start paying full price.
