Traceroute is disabled?

[tartarus]$ traceroute www.google.com
traceroute: icmp socket: Operation not permitted

But ping is availabe

when i login tartarus ,run

ls -la which traceroute

my shell account is sunqingqing on tartarus.

I’d be inclined to send in a ticket to Support using your Panel.

Panel > Support > Contact Support

Select FTP or Shell on the first page and give a brief description of the problem (you could copy/paste the details you’ve posted here, or link them to this thread).

I know this is an old thread but I am having exactly the same problem. I also have a very similar error when trying to open a raw socket as ICMP in PHP.

[ernieball]$ traceroute traceroute: icmp socket: Operation not permitted

Has anyone come up with a solution? I contacted support 15 hours ago and they haven’t replied yet.

I am trying here and it says command not found
