I have a Development version of my application sitting on the the same server as my Production source - I would like to prevent sending emails out from the Dev environment into the "real" world while testing.
On my local machine I run a sweet little piece of software called Mailcatcher - http://mailcatcher.me/
Has anyone set up something similar on a VPS? From the Mailcatcher page it looks like you can change the default settings to catch outgoing SMTP mail, but I'm not sure how I would run this on DreamHost? Do we have access that is needed to trap mail before it goes out?
I do not use DH's offered email (if this matters) - most of the code just uses native PHP mail() - with a few places sending address through Mandrill.
Anyone else used other solutions?
