Symlinks and shell [Solved]

#1

I am trying to setup a symlink between two folders in mysite.com

I go into shell and creat the link thusly

ln -s mysite.com/data/Pictures mysite.com/gallery/galleries/ cd mysite.com/gallery/galleries/ ls Pictures cd Pictures -bash: cd: Pictures: No such file or directory

and that breaks everything I am trying to do. I can’t see Pictures via FTP either

mysite.com/data/Pictures permissions set for 755

Ideas?

Symlinks are resolved relative to the link — the link you created was effectively from mysite.com/gallery/galleries/Pictures to mysite.com/gallery/galleries/mysite.com/data/Pictures, which is almost certainly not what you want.

Either one of these alternatives would work:

That answer came to me in the middle of lunch

ln -s /path/to/mysite.com/data/Pictures /path/to/mysite.com/gallery/galleries/

works, now to work on a totally unrelated formating issue
