Subdomain not hosted with DreamHost

#1

Hey,

I have my main domain hosted with DreamHost and I’m trying to have a subdomain on another host service.

I have added the IP adress of my server as A to the DNS record of my main domain. The subdomain DO redirect to the good IP, but is REALLY slow at loading anything on it… ( and for now it’s just some plain html generated by ruby on rails)

Also, if I browse trough my subdomain(via the original IP address), it’s way faster… So my guess would be something happen between my server and my dreamhost domain…

Is this normal, is there anything I should do to make it faster?

The problem is with the server hosting the sub-domain.

Domain Name Service or DNS simply provides a method to convert a name into an IP address, once that lookup is done and cached DNS isn’t part of the page loading picture anymore.
