Sub-domains working ... Domain not

#1

I recently purchased a code-monster hosting package and transferred a domain (christophersisk.com) to Dreamhost. I logged in to my old host and changed the nameservers. DNS was off and on for the next couple of days as is expected. Eventually, the domain began pulling from my old host only. I started looking into it and noticed that my old host still had my domain linked to a directory on that server. Setting up multiple domains there is like setting up a sub-domain… you link it to a specific directory within your root directory. (ie. firstaccount.com -> /html/ , secondaccount.com -> /html/two/ , thirdaccount.com -> /html/three/ ) if that makes any sense.

Well, immediately after terminating that “sub-domain” at my old host, all my new sub-domains began working and pulling from Dreamhost, but the main domain is returning a 404 … and not the custom 404 as specified in my .htaccess. I can view a sub-domain fine, but if I put in the actual address, i get a 404.

example: (plan.christophersisk.com links to /christophersisk.com/plan/)

http://plan.christophersisk.com - returns a page
http://christophersisk.com/plan - returns a 404

http://christophersisk.com - returns a 404 saying " The requested URL / was not found on this server.
Apache Server at christophersisk.com Port 80 "

any ideas?

Both domains seem to be working fine.

Very little to do with either emus or farmers!

What do you see when you enter

http://christophersisk.com

?

I see:

"I’ll Be Right Back

Please bear with me as I change Hosting services."

Thank you very much… I guess it could just be dodgy DNS.

what troubles me though is that from my computer… I can access http://plan.christophersisk.com fine, but cannot access http://christophersisk.com/plan. Which is the exact same directory.

Can someone test both of those addresses and tell me what you see.

I see:

http://plan.christophersisk.com - “Login”

http://christophersisk.com/plan - “Not Found. The requested URL /plan was not found on this server. Apache Server at christophersisk.com Port 80”

Update: Working now… it was indeed dodgy DNS.

christophersisk.com/plan redirects to plan.christophersisk.com.
