I am very interested in starting my own streaming music website. I am going to using Winamp (i.e. shoutcast) to do this. Can anyone please lead me in the right direction in doing this.

You cannot do live relay streaming (ie shoutcast). However, you could do a broadcast and make and archive it as an mp3, rename it as an .m3u and it could be streamed to users that way.
Someone did submit it as a feature suggestion, if you want to vote on it go here > https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=home.sugg&category=Goodies - Streaming&search=shoutcastp
sorry but can you elaberate some more on this because i am very intersted
Well, I can't elaborate on what Wjd was saying, but I can tell you that DH won't let you run a music streaming service on a shared hosting package. You'll have to shell out the $ for dedicated hosting.
An m3u will allow you to stream an mp3 file or a list of mp3 files that are stored on the server. It will not allow you to do live streaming though. If you are still interested here is a demo > http://www.vibeflow.com/m3u.pl/archive/radio2000/radio2000.2003-09-12.mp3.m3u
Here is a tutorial on how to create an m3u > http://www.scvi.net/pls.htm
I hope those links help
