Strange email failure

OK, so I moved my e-mail from a stationary home machine to mu laptop. Everything went fine until I tried to receive my mail. I’m using Thunderbird 1.5.0.4 on OS X. When I try to get mail, it says "Connecting to " for a while, the nothing, or occasionally, “There are no new messages on the server”. The problem is, if I log in through the webmail interface, I see that there is indeed mail waiting for me. Outgoing mail works fine. I have tried setting up both IMAP and POP accounts, both behave the same way. I tried both with SSL and without (port 143 and 110, respectively).

Any ideas out there? I’m going nuts here…

thanks,
andy

Well, now, this morning, it starts working. Strange change by the light of day…
