SSL e-mail access misconfiguration

#1

[This may or may not be related to the corrupted e-mail configuration issue. I’ve filed a support request, but have not received a confirmation of its receipt, so that may not have gone through.]

Here is the problem:

----BEGIN----
dib:~$ telnet mail.iskunk.org pop3s
Trying 208.97.132.43…
Connected to a1.balanced.postal.mail.dreamhost.com.
Escape character is ‘^]’.
+OK Hello there.
^]close

telnet> close
Connection closed.
dib:~$ telnet mail.iskunk.org imaps
Trying 208.97.132.43…
Connected to a1.balanced.postal.mail.dreamhost.com.
Escape character is ‘^]’.

  • OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE ACL ACL2=UNION STARTTLS] Courier-IMAP ready. Copyright 1998-2004 Double Precision, Inc. See COPYING for distribution information.
    ^]close

telnet> close
Connection closed.
----END----

The POP3/IMAP-via-SSL ports are serving up POP3/IMAP without SSL. (I should not be seeing any connect text from the server.) This began sometime since yesterday evening.

I filed a support ticket after running into this same problem.
But SSL connections now seem to be working again (8 p.m. EDT, 17 May).
