SSL Certificate on a domain going to my Home Server

#1

SSL is a foreign topic to me, but I am trying to learn about it. Currently reading up on how things work and getting the general idea.

My question: If I have a domain registered through DreamHost, and use Dreamhost DNS to point that domain to my home-server (which has a static IP address), can I then purchase an SSL certificate from DreamHost for that domain and have SSL on my home-server?

Thanks.

Hrmm. I am still figuring this SSL thing out, but by reading the wiki-page here:

I was led to using StartSSL. Found a tutorial for setting that up on an Ubuntu Server here:
http://lowtek.ca/roo/2012/ubuntu-apache2-trusted-ssl-certificate-from-startssl/

And now have a functional SSL connection to my home server for free. So far so good. If come across any glitches I will post back.
