A while ago a Dreamhost newsletter mentioned something about a method of spam prevention by mock e-mail addresses. Like using email@example.com instead of firstname.lastname@example.org, or something like that. I don’t remember how to use it and I can’t find any articles on it in the support wiki. So, my question is: What is it and how do I use it?
It’s called “plus addressing” and you use it by appending a “plus sign” ("+") and some other identifier (which can be any legal string of characters) to the user’s address.
For instance, if the user’s email address is "email@example.com, " you could use “firstname.lastname@example.org” or “email@example.com”.
You’re welcome! Enjoy!
