I am having both a “lookup failure” and a “timeout error”. They vary, for some reason.
I’m using Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5, and this just started happening in the last hour. It’s also happening to one of my clients, so it’s not just my email box. I submitted a support request, but I’m beginning to worry - this client has complained about SMTP errors before.
The error that I am getting right now is:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’, Server: ‘mail.liquidesign.ca’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
I can ping mail.liquidesign.ca:25 with no problems - average return is 97ms.
– EDIT (10 minutes later): Now it’s working, of course. But I would still like to know what the heck is going on with SMTP.
