Set-up Fee

#1

My business partner and I are looking to purchase the Code Monster package as sold by Dreamhost. It meets all of our requirements (high bandwidth, high diskspace, allowed adult content, php 4 and 5, ect). But there is one problem. And that is the set-up fee.

I was discussing it with him. I explained to him that it applied with all packages unless we pre-paid for two years, which is not in our budget. And I also explained that even with the set-up fee, it was the most reasonably priced option at our disposal. Still, this wasn’t satisfactory for him. He said that if it weren’t waived, he wouldn’t agree to buy hosting here. And since he’s the controlling party so to speak, I’m unsure what to do.

So my question is this: How, without pre-paying for 2 years of hosting, can we get the set-up fee waived? Or could something more out of the box be done, such as adding $5 a month to the bill for 10 months if we agreed to a 1 year hosting contract?

Thanks

well, not sure if you have found a promo code yet or not - but if not that could be your answer. You can get up to (I think) $50 off the month-to-month price. That would effectivly wave your set-up fee. There’s lots of pople willing to post their promo codes on this forum - so you can easly find on here, or if someone refered you to dreamnhost you might talk to them about it.

Only the month-to-month subscribers have to pay setup fees. The 12 and 24 month pre-paid subscribers have no setup fees. Your best bet is to use someone’s promo code to sign up for the year. My promo code, pixiedust, will give you 97 off of the 12 month plan, 50 off on the 24 month one. If someone referred you to DH, ask them for their promo code.

Explain the promo code. I enter it and what do I save with the year price? Is it $97?

As already mentioned, promo-codes are a work-around. If you were referred, a promo code from anyone other than that person will take the credit from them.

Is the setup the only problem, or the 2-year discount? Or was there a problem with pre-paying for even one year? If it’s both, then a promo code is about the only way you’ll save on a month-to-month plan.

If you were referred, without a promo code, I’d give that person a chance to give you one. If he doesn’t want to, it’s up to you if you want to give them the referral credit or over-ride it with someone else’s code.

Well, pre-paying a year may be an issue or may be okay.

But I’d like to know how much I save with a given promo code as posted by either seiler or Ryo-okhi

(are the boards running slow or is it just me?)

My promo code gives you 97 dollars off of the L1, 12 month plan (that’s the maximum discount I can give). Prepaying for the year costs 119US so you pay 22 dollars for the year.

On the code monster plan it only saves you 50 >.>

As I stated before though, if someone referred you to DH, please ask them to make you a promo code if they don’t all ready have one. If you just stumbled onto DH, feel free to use mine

It knocks $96 off all of the yearly plans.

Even on the month-to-month plans, it knocks off the max allowed by DH, which ranges from $50 - $80.

Normally, that would be $80 for month-to-month Code Monster, but as long as the sale is on, they apply the smaller discount of $60, which is the one that’s used on the Sweet Dreams plan.

So, even going monthly, it’s like saving $10 and getting the setup fee waived.

It seems okay to me, but my last post lagged for awhile before it went through – not sure if that was a problem on my end or DH’s, though.
