Server Error Help

#1

In my Apache error logs, I’m getting this error several times a day:

According to Dreamhost this is causing unusually high amounts of memory usage.

I’m not quite sure how to use ‘LogLevel debug’ to get a backtrace, so I’m a bit stuck.

Also, here are the contents of my .htaccess file:

Are you getting a front end error as well? I’ve seen that happen on WP where you have both www and non-www versions of your domain coded into your site, and WordPress is a little snippy about that sort of thing.

No front-end errors at all. The only reason I even noticed it was in an effort to lower my memory usage, I checked out my error logs.

I don’t know if this offers up any assistance, but here’s a relevant snippet from my access.log file, that corresponds with the time and IP of the error:

188.65.117.144 - - [17/Jul/2014:21:39:27 -0700] "GET /wp/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/includes/css/styles.css?ver=3.9 HTTP/1.1" 403 580 "-" "Java/1.6.0_31" 188.65.117.144 - - [17/Jul/2014:21:39:27 -0700] "GET /wp/wp-content/themes/hueman/style.css?ver=3.9.1 HTTP/1.1" 403 557 "-" "Java/1.6.0_31" 188.65.117.144 - - [17/Jul/2014:21:39:28 -0700] "GET /wp/wp-content/themes/hueman/fonts/font-awesome.min.css?ver=3.9.1 HTTP/1.1" 403 574 "-" "Java/1.6.0_31" 188.65.117.144 - - [17/Jul/2014:21:39:28 -0700] "GET /wp/wp-content/themes/hueman/responsive.css?ver=3.9.1 HTTP/1.1" 403 562 "-" "Java/1.6.0_31"

Any other ideas? I’m getting the errors daily at this point, and I’m not sure if it’s something I should be concerned about…

The user agent on those requests matches the “^Java” bot-blocking rule you have in place. The problem here may be that this rule ends up prevents those requests from even accessing the “oops, you’re blocked” error page. Since you don’t want them seeing your site anyway, though, it’s kind of harmless — this error wouldn’t be causing memory issues.
