Seeking spam solultion for mailbox user account

#1

The spam crush has gotten unbearable, and I desperately need to do something to fix my dreamhost account. Ideally, I’d like to continue using squirrelmail. (I use POP to download mail at gome to Eudora, which has its own spam filtering, but on my frequent travels I need webmail.) I checked out the gmail double-pass solution, and it looks like it would be ideal – except that the account I’m trying to filter is one of the mailbox user accounts, the m###### type. Which seems to mean I can’t use procmail or the gmail solution.

I see someone earlier asked about converting a mailbox user to a full shell account, but got no replies.

Does anyone have any ideas or workarounds? Is my only choice to give up and forward my dreamhost mail to a gmail account and use that address and interface? Any help available is much appreciated.

I can’t see why you wouldn’t want to forward your address to gmail. This is what I do and what I recommend my other users to do. They have better spam filtering, huge mailboxes, excellent search, mobile access and other great features. Squirrelmail is unusable to me. You can add your domain’s e-mail address on gmail’s account settings page so that the reply-to address is your “real” e-mail address. Alternatively, you can install roundcube: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/RoundCube

Gmail is for personal use only; privacy concerns; advertisements…

and Pine is better.
