Second WP install

wordpress

#1

I have a WP install at Dreamhost (Dreampress), and it’s generally operating very slowly - both load times for the front end, and for Wordpress itself.

I’d like to create a second install of WP, and migrate things over (content, plugins etc), and see if I can pinpoint what causes the performance slow down - but, I’m not too familiar with WP.

Other than installing in a subdomain - is there anything I need to be aware of? Anything I should avoid, or ensure I do?

Yes,

Don’t try to share the same database tables between the two installations.

Use a separate database if you can. If you don’t want to do that then change the setting in the wp-config.php file for the table name prefix to a different value.
