On Monday, January 26th, our cloud engineering team will be upgrading OpenStack, the underlying software powering DreamCompute, to the Icehouse release. Access to the APIs, the DreamCompute dashboard, and booting new instances will be temporarily inaccessible while the components are upgraded. However, during the upgrade, your existing instances will remain running and accessible.
The upgrade process includes upgrading each component as well as a database migration. These components will be upgraded: Nova, Neutron, Keystone, Cinder, Glance, and Horizon. Each component will be upgraded individually, except for Nova and Neutron which will be upgraded simultaneously. We will post an update when we start and complete each component.
We don’t expect the upgrade process itself to take the entire 48 hours, but we are leaving ample time for monitoring and testing. For more information, be sure to follow the updates on the DreamHost Status or join us on IRC! The team will be in #DreamCompute on freenode.
UPDATE: The team finished the Icehouse upgrade and everything went smoothly. If you’re seeing any issues, please contact support.
