I use cron jobs and samba on my local Solaris box to tar off some important directories from some windows XP PCs in my office and compress them and write them to tape off site several times each week. This worked real well until Windows XP came along. Since then, I haven't been able to figure out how to make an exception in the XP windows firewall to let my samba server in. The only way I've been able to get it to work is to turn Windows firewall clear off, and that seems risky. How do you do it?
