Resources for self-teaching

I took an html class in about 2000, and learned a fair amount of html4. I think I did an okay job back then, but as the industry grew and expanded, I had other priorities.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good sites or resources to try and brush up my skills? I am interested in learning more about css and separating content from design. Thanks all.

You can search on amazon for some excellent books. Besides html you should think about looking into css, php, javascript, and perl.

Yeah you could purchase books, but why XD. I pretty much learned everything online for free. There are tons of available resources out there. Unless you just happen to like having those paper books in your hands maybe :-S

I learned most everything on-line for free as well, but I’ve bought a few books too. Mostly reference books - sometimes it’s handy to be able to grab a source you know you can trust and pop it open, instead of searching around the internet to find it.

Some may be up-to-date by the wonder of mod_rewrite or somesuch but those were all good basic stuffs many moons ago when I was starting out with css/tableless in 2000/2001. I tossed the ccs2 working spec in there as well for good measure.
