Referrer Spam

#1

How are you guys/gals handling your referrer spam? It’s starting to get out of hand. About 70% of my referrals listed in analog are spam domains.

I use my .htaccess file. Here’s an example of what I use that blocks referrers…actually it just sends them right back where they came from

RewriteEgine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^(.*)pleasantphoto\.com [NC,OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^(.*)incest(.*) [NC,OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^(.*)it-networkclips(.*) [NC] RewriteRule .* %{HTTP_REFERER} [L]Of course mine is much longer and you’ll just customize yours with whatever spam you’re getting, but it does work very well.

Thanks! What does the [NC, OR] and [NC] do?

NC is no case so it’s not case sensative. OR you need after every entry except the last one so it says “If the referrer says this OR this OR this then do this”.
