RE: Non-profit identity

#1

Hello!

I’m working on applying for a free non-profit hosting account on DreamHost (unrelated to the account I’m currently using to ask this question). The Wiki instructions say:

"New Customers

  1. You will first need to fill out and submit the form at https://signup.dreamhost.com/ to sign up for service with us. You must select the option to set up a hosting plan, and not just domain registrations.
  2. When you get to the payment page, stop (please make sure you’ve filled in and submitted a Credit Card Billing Address - we use that information to verify your identity).

    "

The organization is an amateur chorus, and it does have official 501©(3) status. I can easily do the first step above, but I’m unsure what identity you need to verify in step 2. My personal identify, or the organization’s? I am working on this as a designated agent, if you like, of the organization, so it’s not clear to me that my identity would be appropriate.

Steps 3 & 4 on the Wiki should be straightforward, too.

Can you please provide guidance?

Thanks!

Hi there!

To answer your question, you can use whichever card you are comfortable with to verify your identity – either your personal or that of the organization’s! Either one works just fine  If you have any further questions about this, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly support team here: http://dhurl.org/22e
